Answers about price, supported devices, what happens to your photos, the 20 languages and audio in PictoTango.
- Is PictoTango free?
- Yes. It is a free download on the App Store and shows no ads (version 1.0.1, as of 25 September 2026).
- Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
- Recognising and cutting out objects happens on your iPhone. Photos, stickers, word cards and review progress are saved on the device. The app contains no advertising SDKs, tracking SDKs or third-party analytics.
- Which languages can I learn?
- You can choose from these 20 languages: Japanese, English, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Korean, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Turkish, Dutch, Swedish, Polish.
- Which devices are supported?
- iPhone and iPad running iOS 17.0 or later. There is no Android version at the moment.
- Do I need an account?
- No. There is no sign-up or login; open the app and start.
- How many words are included?
- 104 everyday words in 11 scenes such as the kitchen, home, school and travel. Each word has its name and an example sentence in all 20 languages, plus English IPA, Chinese pinyin and the Chinese measure word.
- How does the audio work?
- In the app, the speaker button reads words and sentences with Apple’s system voices. Nothing is recorded or collected. Audio on this website uses your browser’s voices, so it sounds different from the app.
- There is no sound. What can I check?
- Check your iPhone volume, silent mode, the Bluetooth output and whether Apple’s system voices are available.
- The object was recognised wrongly. What can I do?
- Pick another name from the suggestions, or mark the area by hand and recognise it again. Good light and keeping the object in the middle of the frame help.
- Can children use it?
- The App Store age rating is 4+. It is designed so parents and children can learn together, and it has no feature that collects personal information from children.
- How do I delete my data?
- Use the delete option in the app, or uninstall the app. That removes the word cards and photo data stored on the device.
